Silent Operation

The 5320-16P-2MXT-2X operates completely silently at temperatures up to 45°C (113°F) with no moving parts. This makes it uniquely suited to noise-sensitive deployments such as classrooms, boardrooms, hospitality suites, and retail environments where traditional fan-cooled switches would be disruptive. Wall mount, DIN rail, and under-table mounting options further extend its deployment flexibility beyond the rack.

Universal Hardware — Dual Persona

The 5320 comes with dual-persona capability, allowing you to choose your Operating System (OS). Either Switch Engine (EXOS) or Fabric Engine (VOSS) can be selected at switch start-up or changed at a later stage. When selected, the switch assumes the features and capabilities of that OS. OS selection can also be automated with Extreme Platform ONE or ExtremeCloud IQ so that the desired OS is automatically loaded at switch start-up, facilitating remote enablement.

Network Fabric

The 5320 series natively supports Extreme Fabric for network virtualization, automation, and security. Extreme Fabric automates discovery and onboarding of network and user devices, provides sub-second convergence to reduce unplanned downtime, and delivers automated microsegmentation and stealth topology to enhance network security across campus, data center, and branch deployments. Fabric Engine support is included with all 5320 switch models.

Extreme Platform ONE

Extreme Platform ONE is an enterprise connectivity platform that integrates networking and security with AI into one powerful and radically simplified experience and licensing model. It supports NetOps, SecOps, and business teams with built-in automation and enables organizations to regain control, unlock innovation, and boost productivity. Features include zero touch onboarding, Instant Port, Instant Secure Port, and Instant Stack for automated provisioning at scale.

Security and MACsec

Extreme Universal hardware enables extension and enforcement of Fabric and Extreme Platform ONE Security policies. MACsec encryption is supported on both uplink SFP+ ports. Instant Secure Port leverages Extreme Platform ONE Security for zero trust policy enforcement across switch ports, delivering a consistent and frictionless security experience for any user or device. (MACsec requires a separate license.)

Power over Ethernet

All 16 access ports support 30W PoE conforming with IEEE 802.3at, with a total PoE budget of 180W. PoE eliminates the need for additional electrical cabling for connected devices. The 5320-16P-2MXT-2X also supports perpetual and fast PoE for more efficient and reliable powered edge device operation.

Ordering Notes

Each 5320 Series switch is supplied with a Base software license and integrated power supply. Optical transceivers, console cables, power cords, Premier licenses, and MACsec licenses must be ordered separately. The 5320-16P-2MXT-2X does not include a Rack Mount Kit — the mounting kit must be ordered separately.
