Overview:
The AP5050D-WW is a purpose-built 802.11ax (Wi-Fi 6E) access point for stadiums and high-density outdoor environments. Featuring internal directional antennas with software-selectable 30° or 70° beam widths, the AP5050D-WW is optimised for bowl seating, concourse, gate, and other deployment scenarios where directed coverage is needed.
As the Official Wi-Fi Solutions Provider of the National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB), Extreme understands firsthand the unique challenges of stadiums and harsh outdoor high-density Wi-Fi deployments. The IP67-rated AP5050D-WW builds on that experience, delivering a custom-designed access point for these challenging environments. The enclosure withstands sustained winds up to 150 mph (241 km/h) and gusts up to 165 mph (266 km/h), with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +60°C.
The AP5050U-WW and AP5050D-WW are Enterprise Universal and World SKU Wi-Fi 6E Wireless Access Points. The World SKU allows customers, partners, and distributors to order one model for any region, replacing the age-old problem of country-specific models. ExtremeCloud™ IQ geo-locates the access point and accurately provides it the corresponding set of channel and power specifications for that country.
With three 4x4:4 radios, the AP5050D-WW provides high-efficiency, high-performance 802.11ax aggregate data rates up to 10.7 Gbps across the 6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 2.4 GHz bands. Unlike other access points that scan only part-time, the AP5050D-WW features a dedicated tri-frequency sensor that monitors for rogue devices full time, eliminating the risk of vulnerability and attacks.
Note: 6 GHz is country dependent. 6 GHz is enabled outdoors in the United States using Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC). AFC ratification and certification varies by region.

Features:
Directional Antenna Design for Stadium Bowl & Directed Coverage
The AP5050D-WW features internal directional antennas with software-selectable 30° or 70° beam widths, making it the ideal choice for stadium bowl seating, concourse areas, gate entrances, and any deployment where directed, focused coverage is required. The software-selectable antenna pattern means no hardware change is needed to adapt to different coverage zones.
Harsh Outdoor and Stadium Optimised
As the Official Wi-Fi Solutions Provider of the NFL and MLB, Extreme understands firsthand the unique challenges of stadiums and harsh outdoor high-density Wi-Fi deployments. The IP67-rated AP5050D-WW builds on that experience, delivering a custom-designed access point for these challenging environments. The enclosure withstands sustained winds up to 150 mph (241 km/h) and gusts up to 165 mph (266 km/h).
High Performance in High-Density Environments
The AP5050D-WW delivers 4x4:4 6 GHz, 4x4:4 5 GHz, and 4x4:4 2.4 GHz with OFDMA technology for up to 10.7 Gbps aggregate throughput. With Wi-Fi 6E performance and multiple software programmable radio modes, the AP5050D-WW can serve the densest environments including stadiums, event venues, schools, transportation facilities, and healthcare facilities.
Tri-Radio Programmable AP
Extreme launched the industry's first software-defined Wi-Fi 6E access point supporting multiple programmable radio modes. The AP5050D-WW can transmit with all three data radios simultaneously (Mode 1), or operate with two data radios plus a dedicated tri-frequency sensor for full-time rogue device monitoring across 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz (Mode 2). Network managers can configure RF technology based on their environment and switch modes as required.
Future-Proof with Wi-Fi 6E
With built-in 6 GHz radios, the AP5050D-WW increases device capacity and improves spectral efficiency, allowing stadiums and high-density environments to extract more out of the Wi-Fi spectrum and future-proof their network investment. The AP5050D-WW comes with multipurpose GPS capabilities, allowing it to detect regional location for approved Wi-Fi 6E outdoor use via Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC).
Network Management Flexibility
The AP5050D-WW can be flexibly managed by Extreme Platform ONE or ExtremeCloud IQ from the cloud or on premises. Extreme Platform ONE is an enterprise connectivity platform integrating networking and security with AI into one powerful and radically simplified experience. It supports NetOps, SecOps, and business teams with built-in automation, AI-driven workflows for configuration, deployment and management, and inventory management that simplifies budgeting, planning, and compliance.
Security
The AP5050D-WW delivers the highest level of security services, beginning with WPA3 support. It acts as an enforcement point for ExtremeCloud Universal ZTNA, providing automated security policy enforcement and SSID management. Extreme Fabric adds further security by automating provisioning and deployment via a Fabric-enabled switch. The AP5050D-WW also supports a stateful L2–L7 DPI firewall, tri-frequency security, and location analytics.
Integrated Bluetooth Low Energy
Bluetooth® 5.2 Low Energy integration supports IoT devices and guest engagement via Apple iBeacon. Enterprises can use API-driven applications to send advertisements directly to shoppers, guests, and conference attendees — ideal for app download pages, captive portals, or site-specific information.
Universal Hardware
The AP5050D-WW is built with Extreme's Universal Hardware technology, allowing multiple deployment use cases through a simple change of software or feature set. The desired persona (cloud or controller) can be selected at startup or changed later, reducing obsolescence without requiring a rip-and-replace approach to hardware.
