High-Performance Open Fabric Ethernet Switch featuring SDN to Serve as Core Network Infrastructure for Leading Connectivity and Cloud Provider for the Middle East and Africa.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- June 3, 2013 -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that its high performance cloud and data center solutions were selected as the networking infrastructure of choice by Orixcom, the new Telecommunications and Cloud platform operator serving the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

FOSS LLC — an Authorized Installer & System Integrator of Extreme Network Switches in the UAE — were chosen to construct Orixcom's network facilities in order for them to provide the region with its first dedicated Cloud platform and connectivity hub, enabling and delivering cloud services that are purpose built to help drive rapid economic growth in today's connected world.

Giving Orixcom a proven data center network, Extreme Networks Summit® series switches support resilient Ethernet connectivity and customization via SDN through support of the OpenFlow and OpenStack protocols, standard with the ExtremeXOS® operating system. The result is carrier-neutral network connectivity, data center exchange, and cloud services to increase productivity and improve agility for service providers and businesses.

The high performance Summit X480 switch offers core-class intelligent switching and routing powered by the ExtremeXOS® modular OS, providing high availability and simplicity for data centers, Carrier Ethernet, and enterprise aggregation networks. With a 1RU form factor for up to 48 ports and 384 ports in a stacked system, the X480 provides high density for Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), delivering 10 GbE connectivity for up to six ports in one system, and 16 ports in a stacked system.

Orixcom's data center network will be supported by Extreme Networks RidgelineTM, a scalable, full-featured network and service management tool simplifying configuration, provisioning, troubleshooting and status monitoring of IP-based networks.
