SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- June 12, 2013 -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that DataChambers, a cloud and data managed services company in Raleigh and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has selected Extreme Networks Open Fabric data center architecture with expert guidance from Platinum channel partner Blue Door Networks, a solutions integrator that specializes in the supply, design and support of next generation data center networking and converged storage.

DataChambers operates multiple dedicated data centers from which it provides IT management services and business continuity solutions to customers throughout the United States. The Extreme Networks data center solution for DataChambers features intelligent 1GbE Top of Rack switches with support of Layer 2/3 services to support a highly resilient and responsive network connecting thousands of servers. The network and high speed server attachment is the lifeblood of the business and requires 24x7 availability and scale. Space and power efficiency provided by the network is at a premium as server racks occupy more than 65% of the space, making for a dense, high transaction environment for mission critical customer transactions and storage.

The company selected Extreme Networks Open Fabric solution consisting of the BlackDiamond® 8800 and Summit® X480 and X460 TOR switches to support virtualization and converged storage. The ExtremeXOS® modular operating system provides the automation, configuration and operational foundation to reduce the amount of hours spent operating the network.

"Total availability is the essential feature we required from our new network as we need an infrastructure that scales for hundreds of different customers and thousands of different devices," said Nicholas Kottyan, CEO of DataChambers. "Our experience with Extreme Networks and Blue Door Networks has been exceptional as the design, delivery and installation of the solution have been as promised."

In February, Extreme Networks began shipments of OpenFlow with the release of ExtremeXOS 15.3 and SDN applications from Big Switch Networks: Big Tap, provides traffic monitoring and dynamic network visibility with flow filtering, and Big Virtual Switch (BVS), an application for virtualized data center networks which provisions the physical network into multiple logical networks across the stack, from Layer 2 to 7.
