SAN JOSE, Calif. -- May 12, 2014 -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced its Open Fabric network solutions has been selected by Milliman, a premier global consulting and actuarial firm that helps companies take on some of the world's most critical and complex issues, to address its growing data traffic bandwidth demands and improve scalability.

Based in the US, with offices located internationally, Milliman manages retirement funding, healthcare financing, risk management, regulatory compliance and data analytics. With Milliman's continuous growth, it required a network vendor that could grow and scale along with the company. Extreme Networks has helped build a resilient and fast network infrastructure to support its applications and better serve its customers.

Milliman has built key components of high availability network infrastructure using Extreme Networks over the last five years due to its well respected Summit® and BlackDiamond® Ethernet switching products, and just as importantly, for its comprehensive and hands on customer service. Extreme Networks' solutions and expertise have allowed Milliman to standardize its edge, core and data centers on Gigabit and 10GbE solutions that are optimized for performance, availability and ease of use powered by ExtremeXOS®, an advanced modular operating system that promotes high network availability, automation and extensibility.

Milliman's network uses a combination of Extreme Networks' switches that allow for unprecedented agility and collaboration across more than 20 locations. The company also uses Extreme Networks' Summit® X670 and X650 switches to address network issues in both its data center and high performance computing environments and supports its dual 10GbE links. In order to support converged voice and data network with power over the Ethernet, Milliman deployed BlackDiamond® switches with upgraded blades.

With its network-switching infrastructure in place, Milliman looked to Extreme Networks to help streamline the entire network. The updates helped Milliman simplify and improve its enterprise and cloud data center networks enabling the company to service new market segments with increasingly challenging demands, thereby driving continued growth and opening up new revenue opportunities for the future.
